Why Your Kling AI Prompts Keep Failing (And How to Fix Them)
The most common reasons AI video prompts fail on Kling — and the exact fixes that save your credits.
You paste your prompt. Hit generate. Wait 90 seconds. And get a blurry mess where someone's arm is melting into the background.
After evaluating hundreds of Kling prompts, most failures come down to the same five mistakes.
Mistake 1: No motion anchor
Kling needs to know what's moving. Without a primary motion subject, Kling guesses — and usually guesses wrong.
Bad prompt:
Man sitting at desk with coffee, morning light, peaceful atmosphere.
Fixed prompt:
Man sitting at desk, slowly raises coffee cup to lips, morning light through window, peaceful atmosphere.
The fix is one specific action: *raises coffee cup to lips*. Now Kling knows what to animate.
Mistake 2: Asking for rack focus
Rack focus is a lens technique. Kling simulates motion, not optics. It almost never executes rack focus correctly.
Bad prompt:
Slow rack focus from woman's face to city lights behind her.
Fixed prompt:
Very slow push in toward woman's face, city lights visible and slightly blurred in background.
Same cinematic depth. Kling can actually do this one.
Mistake 3: Forgetting you're doing image-to-video
Your source image does 70% of the work. A weak source image ruins even a perfect prompt.
The source image needs to already have the lighting you want, show the subject at the right angle, and include any reflections or atmosphere you need.
Mistake 4: Too many simultaneous actions
Kling handles one primary motion well. Two is harder. Three or more and it breaks.
Bad prompt:
Man walks toward camera while turning his head, wind blows his hair, he raises his hand to wave, camera pulls back.
Fixed prompt:
Man walks slowly toward camera, slight wind movement in hair. Camera holds steady.
Pick the one motion that matters most.
Mistake 5: Vague mood language
Words like "cinematic," "atmospheric," or "epic" don't mean anything to a video model.
Bad prompt:
Cinematic shot of woman walking through Tokyo, epic and atmospheric.
Fixed prompt:
Woman walking through Tokyo at night, slow motion, neon lights reflected on wet pavement, camera tracks alongside her at eye level.
Every word in the fixed version is something Kling can actually do.
